Wheel Bearing
hard DIY~3h jobWhat it does
A wheel bearing is a set of small steel balls inside a ring (the 'race') that lets your wheel spin smoothly around the fixed axle hub. Think of a skateboard wheel — it spins on bearings. When the balls or the race surface pit or corrode, the wheel no longer spins smoothly. You hear it as a growing hum or growl that changes pitch when you shift weight side-to-side while driving. A fully failed bearing can seize the wheel or allow it to wobble, both of which are dangerous.
