60,000 mile service checklist
Here's exactly what your factory maintenance schedule calls for at this mileage — and what each item typically costs.
60,000 mile service
- Engine oil and filter change — 0W-20 full synthetic
- Tire rotation
- Replace cabin air filter
- Replace engine air filter
- Replace spark plugs — 3.6L Pentastar iridium (factory ~100k; replace at 60k if off-road use is heavy, plug fouling from low-speed crawling is common); 2.0L turbo: replace iridium plugs at 60k due to turbo combustion stress
- Replace front axle gear oil — Dana 30/44: 75W-90 synthetic (on-road use) or 80W-140 synthetic (severe off-road/towing)
- Replace rear axle gear oil — same spec; check for water contamination (milky appearance) from stream crossings
- Replace transfer case fluid — ATF+4
- Replace manual transmission fluid — GL-4 75W-90 (6-speed Tremec)
- Replace automatic transmission fluid — ATF+4 (8-speed 850RE; some dealers do not recommend change but off-road use warrants it)
- Replace brake fluid — DOT 3 or DOT 4
- Inspect coolant — OAT (orange) extended life; first change typically 10 years/150k — inspect at 60k for pH and freeze-point
- Inspect serpentine belt
- Inspect all four wheel hubs and bearings (sealed on front; adjustable on some rear configurations)
- Inspect front and rear differential cover seals
