30,000 mile service checklist
Here's exactly what your factory maintenance schedule calls for at this mileage — and what each item typically costs.
30,000 mile service
- Engine oil and filter change — 0W-20 full synthetic
- Tire rotation
- Replace cabin air filter
- Replace engine air filter — off-road use: inspect at 15k and replace more frequently if heavy dust exposure
- Inspect spark plugs — 3.6L Pentastar iridium (factory interval ~100,000 mi; inspect at 30k for fouling from off-road idling)
- Replace front Dana axle gear oil — Dana 30 (Sport/Sahara) or Dana 44 (Rubicon): SAE 80W-90 mineral or SAE 75W-90 synthetic; Rubicon factory fill is synthetic — maintain synthetic
- Replace rear Dana axle gear oil — Dana 35 (Sport/Sahara) or Dana 44 (Rubicon): same spec; if Trac-Lok limited-slip equipped, add Mopar limited-slip additive
- Replace transfer case fluid — NV241 Rock-Trac (Rubicon) or NV231 (Sport/Sahara): ATF+4 per Jeep spec; Command-Trac and Rock-Trac both use ATF+4
- Inspect manual transmission fluid (if 6-speed Tremec TR3650 manual equipped — GL-4 75W-90 synthetic; severe off-road: replace at 30k)
- Inspect automatic transmission fluid — 8-speed 850RE: ATF+4; inspect color; replace under severe use (towing, water crossings)
- Inspect front and rear driveshaft u-joints and slip yoke — grease Zerk fittings on equipped models
- Inspect steering components: tie rod, drag link, track bar, and steering stabilizer
