Coolant Hose (Radiator Hose)

easy DIY~1h job

What it does

Coolant hoses are the thick rubber pipes that carry hot coolant from the engine to the radiator (upper hose) and cooled coolant back from the radiator to the engine (lower hose). Additional smaller hoses carry coolant to the heater core (for cabin heat) and to the overflow reservoir. The rubber ages and degrades from years of heat cycling — it hardens, cracks, or gets soft and spongy. A hose that bursts while driving dumps all your coolant on the road in seconds, and the engine overheats within a mile.
