Control Arm Bushing
hard DIY~3h jobWhat it does
The control arm is the metal link that connects your wheel hub to the car's frame, allowing the wheel to move up and down with the road. The bushing is the rubber sleeve pressed into each end of the control arm — it cushions and isolates the metal-to-metal connection, absorbing road vibrations and allowing smooth suspension movement. When the rubber deteriorates (from age, oil contamination, or just hard use), the bushing gets loose or cracked. The result is clunking over bumps, imprecise steering, and uneven tire wear because the wheel is no longer held in a precise position.
