How do I clean corroded battery terminals myself?
1) Disconnect the negative (black) cable first, then positive (red). 2) Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 cup of water. 3) Pour over the corroded terminals — it will fizz and bubble as it neutralizes the acid. 4) Scrub with a wire brush or old toothbrush. 5) Rinse with clean water. 6) Dry and reconnect positive first, then negative. 7) Apply a thin coat of dielectric grease or petroleum jelly to prevent future corrosion.
When should I replace battery cables instead of cleaning them?
